The China-Latin America 2024 Youth Challenge to Alleviate Poverty is a transnational educational competition aimed at encouraging young people to think about and confront global challenges, particularly the issue of poverty reduction. Co-organized by Tsinghua University, Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, the event is divided into two stages: the preliminary rounds in China, Brazil, and Chile, and the cross-country final rounds, which will be held from August 15th to 17th in Brazil.
Participants are required to use their professional knowledge and intercultural communication skills, along with the toolkits provided by the competition, to identify poverty phenomena, discuss poverty reduction strategies, and consider the involvement of various stakeholders such as governments and businesses. By holding the event over multiple years, the competition aims to accumulate outstanding cases, promote international exchange and reference of poverty reduction experiences, and invites businesses and governments to contribute together to the cause of poverty reduction.
